The ocean view from Damon's (see a map, and their website) in Myrtle Beach is spectacular. We sat on the open deck. There are tables inside, but this was a perfect day to eat outdoors.
I ordered the 5-Rib lunch special ($9.99) and selected a baked potato and coleslaw for my sides. The pork ribs were tender and tasty, though I requested some hot sauce to jazz 'em up. Our waiter brought Bulliard's Cajun hot sauce, a brand I'd never tried before. It was hot and good — much more heat than Tabasco. Both the potato and the slaw were excellent.
Sarah had French Onion Soup and a baked potato topped with BBQ pork and cheddar cheese. She enjoyed her choice, which was listed as a $7.99 lunch special.
Henry ordered a tossed salad and half a beef brisket sandwich ($7.99). The blue cheese dressing was a pleasant change of pace, for it was like a ranch or buttermilk-style dressing with blue cheese in it. Henry also liked the brisket sandwich.
A friend opted for the 5-Rib lunch special with french fries and coleslaw.
Our waiter Merrill did not write down anyone's orders, and yet remembered what we wanted (and was also taking orders from other tables simultaneously). Very impressive.
Damon's has an extensive menu. Depending upon their selection, four people could dine at Damon's for under $50, though it would certainly be possible to spend more. (Because of the breathtaking ocean view, many people assume that any meal at Damon's would be extremely expensive.)
