Patricia Mitchell has just released a new book celebrating South Louisiana's famous French food traditions. The book is entitled An Affair of the Heart: America's Romance with Louisiana Food.
Included are overviews of the French colonial period, later Creole and Cajun cultural revivals, 27 illustrative recipes, and a glossary of Louisiana food terms.
An Affair of the Heart is a revision, extension, and replacement in the booklist of Patricia's earlier My Heart's in Louisiana But My Supermarket Isn't, which went out of print earlier this year.
Patricia began her writing about food and food history while she and her husband Henry were residents of Louisiana during the early 1970's.
