When this book was published in 1994, Patricia Mitchell and her husband Henry had been operating their bed-and-breakfast in Virginia for nine years. Patricia commented at that time, “For most people, the term ‘bed and breakfast’ is a tongue-twister. ‘Bed-and-breakfasts’ often become, with a slip of the tongue, ‘bread-and-breakfasts.’ Because of my role as a B&B hostess, I have to be sure that both beds and breads are properly made every day!”
Crumbs Between the Covers: Homemade Bread for In and Out of Bed contains 56 recipes from Patricia's own repertoire, including such delights as “Peppery Parmesan Biscuits,” “Lemon Raisin Scones,” “Pennsylvania Dutch Applesauce Bread,” (perhaps the most popular among Patricia's bread recipes for B&B guests), and “Sleepy Hollow Corn Bread.”
Crumbs Between the Covers went out of print in 1999, at which time Patricia revised and assimilated portions of the manuscript into another book, As the Mill Wheel Turns. After many requests during the intervening years for copies of the original Crumbs Between the Covers, it is presented again here, in Patricia's Keeping Room Series of old favorites, for the enjoyment of her readers.
