Like its “first cousin,” Coming Home for Christmas Cookbook, this volume, Sweet Memories of Christmas Cookbook by Patricia B. Mitchell, is based on the results of a reader survey involving Christmas traditions.
Since eating is certainly a big part of celebrating, many of the questionnaire responses focused on food. Typical menus were listed (though there were regional variations). Favorite foods cited were usually sweets.
Recipes for many of these goodies are offered. Examples include “Four Day Carroll County Coconut Cake,” “Mava's Marvelous Lemon Pound Cake,” “Papa Noel's Pumpkin Pie,” and “Home for the Holidays Christmas Strawberries.”
The recipes and “warm fuzzy” anecdotes make Sweet Memories of Christmas Cookbook a pleasure to read and receive.
